Parfetts has marked the start of its wholesale expansion in the South with the launch of this London store, signalling the beginning of an ambitious growth strategy.

The store is operated by independent retailer Posikan Sivakumar and is located on Plaistow Lane in Bromley, directly opposite the train station. The 1,725 sq ft site has already begun attracting strong footfall from commuters, passing trade and local residents.

The premises had spent several years operating almost exclusively as a post office after originally opening as a Londis convenience store. When Posikan took on the site, he carried out a full refit and initially planned to continue with the existing fascia. However, those plans changed after he discovered that Parfetts was now delivering to a growing number of retailers in the local area.

After reviewing Parfetts’ competitive promotional programme, broad product range, including an extensive Own Brand offering, and free next-day delivery service, Posikan decided to join the Go Local Extra fascia before any signage was installed.

Since reopening, the store has expanded its product range, strengthened its promotional activity and refreshed its layout. These improvements have helped increase margins and attract new customers on a daily basis. A food-to-go section is also being introduced to meet rising demand for convenient meal solutions and to further appeal to commuters and local families.

Posikan said: “I knew of Parfetts and Go Local but did not realise they were reaching this part of London. Once I understood what they offered, it was an easy decision. The support from the team and the strength of the promotions have made a real difference. We can already see the benefit in customer feedback and in the performance of the store. I am looking forward to building on this strong start.”

Plans are underway for over 30 new stores across the South Coast and Greater London, supported by their Southampton depot. Parfetts continues to rapidly expand its fascia estate. The wholesaler is strengthening its national supply network while supporting independent retailers across the UK with value driven promotions and a reliable, high-service proposition.
